Series That I Gave Up On

As a bit of a blog surfer, I often come across a lot of blogs going on about the same things, these past few days I've seen a few posts about the cover of The Iron prince (Iron Fey #4) by Julie Kagawa, the cover reveal for Clockwork prince (Infernal Devices #2) by Cassandra Clare and the impending release of Passion (Fallen #3) by Lauren Kate.

So what is this post about? Basically, I've released there are quite a few series that i haven't managed to get into yet and I wanted readers to give me there opinions on them, and I also want to give mine without having to do a full-on review.

The Fallen Series - Lauren Kate
I have the first book in this series, I think I actually enjoyed it when I got it, but I decided to reread it before buying Torment. I don't know why, but I just couldn't get into it again and when I did get through it I didn't feel as though I needed to buy Torment... I don't know if I ever will, to be honest.
That being said, I love Lauren Kate's writing style, and the story itself, but I felt little urge to see what happened to the characters.

The Immortals Series - Alyson Noel
I felt that the first book was so cliche, in a time with so many YA para-romance books, it lacked the originality, and the characters. I never got past book two. Which I regret.
I would like to point out that I'm in love Alyson's other 'Bloom' series, which focuses on Ever's sister Riley's afterlife.

Wings Series - Aprilynne Pike
I LOVED Wings, but by the middle of Spells it was becoming terribly unoriginal and cliche, I'm not sure whether I'll read Wild (Illusions) but I doubt it, I feel like a great idea was ruined by typical conventions. The love triangle was too cliche, personally.

The Morganville Vampires - Rachel Caine
I have up two book four on my bookshelf, and I remember reading them BUT I'm not sure... I don't remember what they were about, who the characters were. I know that i lost interest at book four out of the ten that are currently out.

Wicked Lovely Series - Melissa Marr
I read up to Fragile Eternity, but then I got bored and confused. I thin k it could have been concluded in a trilogy, but Melissa Marr is dragging it out, making it a bit tedious and boring.

So what do you think, think any of these series are awesome and wanna give me a piece of your mind?

  1. I have to say a few of these I couldn't get through (hoping no one tries to throw a book at me) but the one that I liked was the Fallen series. There were a few wholes in the plot but it was the first angel series I read and I loved the take on it. The third one comes out soon and I am really excited for you.

  2. Read all of them except Wings and The Fallen. Gave up on all of them as well :) I am not going to read The Fallen as I read enough negative reviews to see that I wouldn't like them. Not sure about Wings though.

  3. from all the ones you've given up the only ones I can truly say I've read are the Fallen books by Lauren Kate I really hope you give it a second or third chance in your case, since in Torment you get to see a different side of a "long-distance relationship" in this case I hope you remember the characters well enough!:D and I really loved the ending, it had something that got me saying"I can't wait for Passion" other than that...I've only read the first book of Marr's series and read bad things of the next so wasn't sure about them BUT! I just bought the second and I'll see what's like---

  4. I agree with you about the Wicked Lovely and the Immortals series!! They're the first books I've disliked, and I would have thought Melissa Marr would have done better. I enjoyed reading the first book, but after, I just couldn't stand reading about the characters and their situtations; she dragged the story too much. And the Immortals series. Goodness, I don't know why did I even come to read the books because I seriously did not enjoy reading them; the girl seemed too weak, and whiny for my tastes, and the guy? Don't even get me started. They were all very annoying, and I wanted to throw the book in the trash; it was that bad. Thank goodness it was a library book, haha. I haven't read the others, but I've heard of them, and their covers are lovely. I actually liked reading this post! A good job indeed! (:
